The poem written by Subramania Bharati starts like "Thedi chorus nithan thunder..." is such a powerful and motivating poem for all the time.

In this poem he asks goddess sakthi "whether she thinks he leads a life full of having food by searching for it daily, hurting others through gossiping,doing things affecting others and eventually die at the old age like all puppet human beings.I ask you some wishes...." goes on.

Subramanian Swamy

Subramanian Swamy is born in Mylapore,Chennai.There was a brave,patriotic poet,writer and independent activist named "Subramania Bharati" popular called as "Mahakavi Bharati".Our subramanian swamy also a brave,straightforward politician.This makes me to wonder the immense power of the name drawn to the person.

He is a secular person although he firmly believes in Hinduism.His wife is a parish,his younger daughter Suhashini haider (print and media journalist,worked in CNN IBN) married to Nadeem Haider,a follower of Muslim religion,yet she follows her own religion.This shows his family's view on religion.

He has completed his PhD in Economics from Harvard university.He seems like liability to any political party as he goes against corruption by any people and lodges a case against any person.Tamilnadu's CM Ms.Jayalalitha,Indian national congress leader Mrs.Sonia Gandhi,Rahul Gandhi are few people against whom he has filed cases.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms

China faced a most turbulent situation once the majestic Han 

dynasty fell.The "Middle kingdom" was now separated as 

"North","South west" and "South east".These three kingdoms 

fought for their internal power,survival and warfare that are 

captured in numerous historical and fictional works.

Among all these "Romance of three kingdoms" is very famous and 

worth mentioning.The Main character of this story is the most 

eminent and brilliant military strategist from south western state 

shu han.He was Zhuge Liang,chancellor of Shu Han state.

The year is 208 C.E and the army of northern china's wei state is on its way to capture the southern part of china to make the middle kingdom again with this empire.When it reached the mighty yangtze river it camped there and awaited for the battle to happen.


Across this yangtze massive river lays the shu and Wu states.Sensing the threat from northern empire,being outnumbered by the north these two states made a temporary coalition to counter attack them.

Zhuge Liang was given a task of coming up with the strategy to save the south landers of china.Generals of Shu and Wu were waiting for him to formulate a plan.

The Wu army asked zhuge to arrange for 100,000 arrows to attack the northern army.They told him that since it seems like impossible task we give you 10 days to come up with a plan of getting 100,000 arrows.zhuge calmly said just give me three days and no more.

He spent 2 days in preparing 20 swift boats with 30 soldiers in each boat.He surrounds the group of soldiers with dummy soldiers like scarecrows.

Third day he went with these boats towards Yangtze river.Heavy fog was near the enemy side and it seemed like blanket on the river.Zhuge asked his soldiers to make a noise by beating battle drums.Frightened by this ruckus and blinded by fog,enemies started firing arrows endlessly towards the direction of noise.

Finally loaded with 100,000 arrows the boats headed towards their home shore.Upon asking how he came up with this brilliant plan he answered as:
“A good general must be well versed not only in battle strategy, but also in astronomy, geography, divination, and the principles of yin and yang,” Zhuge replied. “I foresaw the heavy fog three days in advance, and so formulated my plan.”

Proxy Wars

Cold war is actually fought between two super powers,USSR and USA.Cold war is actually a grudge feeling against each other after WWII.This term is used to describe the relationship between these two countries although they never fought with other.

Proxy wars are war happened between other countries but with each side getting support from different super power.E.g: Vietnam war,Korean war etc.

Korean War
One  can see korean war as a result of the cold war or animosity between two super power nations(USA and USSR) emerged at the end of WWII.At the end of WWII,Japan lost the war and relinquished the power to hold Korea.And hence it ended up as northern part of korea occupied by USSR became north korea and southern parts occupied by United states became South Korea.

USSR has different ideology which claims on communalism so north korea became communist whereas South korea occupied by US became Capitalist.Naturally there was tension among these two super powers fearing that other would occupy the entire korean peninsula.

Both sides thought that the division is temporary and the outcome of elections would bring the unified korean government.Whereas soviet did not trust the UN monitored elections of 1948.Democratic government was set up in South whereas in north self declared communist leader became supreme power.Both US and USSR stepped out in 1948-49 by giving control to these governments.It's the fate of korean country that the separation for ever became salvage as a result of the non korean super powers in the World.That enmity between two nations still on going without realising the fact that it all started by the people who don't belong to Korea itself.

At the same time,there was a revolution going on in china,communist occupied north korea started supporting china by giving refuge to the leaders escaped from china.Whereas US supported nationalists who were fighting against Communist.At the end,Communist won china in 1949.This boosted the communist guerrillas and took up the next task of acquiring the south korea.They won the territory.This brought US,USSR and China into the war,though none of these nations declared war against each other.

After nearly 4 years of the war,the sides moved back to the 1949 arrangements in an armistice signed in 1953 that also provided for a DeMilitarize Zone (DMZ) between these two rivals.

North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)

 NATO is formed to safeguard the freedom and security of its members through Political and military means.It was formed in 1949 specifically for collective security defence strategies after WWII.

NATO was formed to counter the soviet union during the cold war.There was a fear that soviet union would attack European countries during cold war and thus NATO came into existence.

NATO accepts members of Europe and North America continents.It provides a unique link between these 2 continents for consultation and cooperation in the defence and security and the conduct of multi national crisis management.

The main players of NATO are its member countries only.There are currently 28 members.

Collective Defence

It's committed to the principle of attack on one or many of its member countries are considered as an attack against all.This is the principle of "Collective defence".It is mentioned in Article 5 of the washington treaty.So far,article 5 has been invoked once-in response to the 9/11 attacks in the United States.

Non NATO members of EU countries:

Among the European union,there are few countries which are not members in NATO.They are Ireland,Finland,Sweden,Austria,Malta and Cyprus.

Compassion

My day started with some one asking "Madam,here even MLA and other people are taking money from us-handloom workers" to a compère on a random regional channel.Reaction from the compère was worst and spoiled my day.She condescendingly said as "he called as if giving complaints like no power or no water to EC board or Public works department".Just because its comedy channel it does not meant you can make a fun of your callers.Without them there is no business for you as well as your channel.

That compère could have handled this situation better by saying she understands his problem and could have false promised as she could do something about it.Nobody in her channel will sue her for that.Caller talked about it because he wants to inform this to some people who has high power to act on it so he chose media to disclose.He is not some insane to call you for some song or comedy scene.

Coral reefs and Climate Change

Corals are solid rock like structure but it is actually an animal.Corals form a skeleton made up of calcium carbonate.Corals get their colors from zooxanthallae,a plant like cells.Zooxanthallae have symbiotic relationship with corals.

Zooxanthellae needs shelter so it sticks to corals and corals get food ,nutrients from zooxanthallae. Zooxanthellae lives on soft tissues of corals and uses sunlight to produce food by photosynthesis and create a by product food that corals can have as a food.It's called Symbiotic relationship.

How do corals get food

Corals get food in two ways.One is through Zooxanathallae.Other is during night,corals stretch out their tentacles to catch very small micro organisms.

Where do corals live

Most of the corals live in shallow warm waters that receive plenty of light.They live in waters close to the warmest temperatures they can tolerate.That's the reason why climate change affects many underwater species.

What lives on Coral reefs.
Turtles,algae,urchins etc make corals as a home as corals provide shelter and protection from many predators.

To escape from predators,many organisms live on the cracks and cervices of reef created by corals.
Many invertebrates and living organisms under water are in symbiotic relationship as one organism gets benefit from other just by staying together .And its a complex food web.

Many types of clams live long and grow big on corals.Clownfish and sea anemones are perfect pairs.

Sea anemones are immobile so they wait for the prey to swim by and using its poisonous tentacles it catches shrimps etc.As clownfish is immune to sea anemone's poisonous tentacles and live happily along with sea anemone as it does not eat sea anemone so clown fish pose no threat to it.Clownfish actually eats predators that live on sea anemone so these two live in a symbiotic relationship.

What are affecting corals

1. Coral Bleaching
Bleaching occurs as the conditions necessary to sustain the zooxanthellae on coral cannot be maintained.There are many factors trigger coral bleaching.One of the top most reason is increase or decrease in water temperature.

As water temperature increases,zooxanthellae leaves corals and hence corals looks like bleached.Eventually it dies as it starves from food.

How can we humans help coral reefs

1.Reduce,Reuse and Recycle trash

2.Reduce the consumption of natural water so that more water remains in natural streams

     E.g: Stop the habit of leaving the tap open while brushing teeth,while applying face wash,using too much water for washing utensils

And we Indians are collectively doing something wrong,that is not taking up the lever back to the normal position even after enough water is flushed down in toilet.If we leave it down just like that thinking the lever will go up on its own then it will waste too much of water on already cleaned commode.

3.Prefer to go office by walk,cycle,carpool or public transportation.It reduces Greenhouse gas.

Raghuram Rajan

Raghuram Rajan-Governor of RBI.It would be face palm moment if somebody answers i don't know who is he.

I started having mixed feelings of crush,respect,proud etc on him.I started following a topic exclusively on him in Quora.

Just to motivate my inner self,am going to post few excerpts,anecdotes and some more.

Crush factors

1.His perpetual zeal to learn something new

During his initial days of joining RBI as Governor,apparently he used to reply in English for  questions asked by journalists in Hindi.And he promised that he would learn hindi soon.

Unlike others who could have gone giving interviews in English,he asked one of his officer to teach him Hindi atleast one hour every week.Today he gives interviews at length in Hindi, except economic jargons

2.He is a true Sports person

One of his IIM Classmate told Mr.Rajan's dad funnily that "One day Rajan will make a Guinness record for the thinnest book in earth titled "Games that i have not played"

3.When asked about his thoughts on Entrepreneurship, he said," I give advice only if I get paid for it".
But he did go on and added, "Don't stop, challenge yourself till you are young. If you master a skill, be interesting and move one to a new challenge."

You don't get a lunch for free, do you? 

So move out of your comfort zone and JUST DO IT!

Observe and Absorb

Quite a long time am trying to improve my observation skill.Sometimes i try earnestly to observe things around me.It goes only for some hours let alone days.Then i got to know the reason why am failing to observe.If some people are good in observation then naturally everybody should have that innate quality.

Live in the present
It's the reason why am not able to concentrate on my surroundings.I tend to live in future or past.Thinking about past stresses you lot and after all its happened.Nobody could change the past.What future holds us for makes us anxious for no reason.I have read somewhere that most of the things which we fear that it will happen in future will not occur at all.If i dwell in either past or future where would be time for my brain to enjoy 'the moment'.

We should learn to appreciate the sun shine when you walk on the road because you got good sighted eyes NOW.Otherwise we will regret while trying to insert a thread in the needle when you are aged.
Point is let's try to live in the present.

Everything happens for a reason
Things will happen to us to teach a lesson.It keeps happening to us until we learnt that lesson.So,stop asking "Why it's happening only to me?".Nothing is new under the sun and everything is just a passing cloud.

Be Grounded
Be as strong as Ground.It bears everybody's weight though we stamp on it such harshly.

Absorb the qualities exerted by people around us to upgrade your inner self not to degrade yourself.Let Swan be an inspiration for us to absorb only good qualities although human beings are a mixture of good and bad qualities.

Power button in laptop

I have never given much thought about why power button in my mac or any laptop got this symbol or icon as in below pic until i read a post in quora.

In Binary we represent 1 for 'ON' and 0 for 'OFF'. As Power button goes for both on and off,it got the symbol as a blending of both 1 (On) and 0 (Off)

Barbarika-Bravest warrior in Mahabharata

Barbarika was the son of Ghatotkacha,grandson of Bhima and Hidimbi.He learnt the warfare from his mother.He possessed the three infallible arrows which he got from Ashtadeva gods.He had a principle of always fighting on the losing side.

How Krishna got to know about Barbarika?

Krishna asked each warrior about how many days he would take to finish the Mahabharata war alone.Bhisma said he would take 20 days to finish the war.When Dronacharya was asked he replied as he would need 26 days.Karna answered as he would take 27 days and Arjuna told krishna he would take 28 days to complete the war alone.

Having got the answers of all the warriors,krishna wanted to test the strength of Barbarika.Krishna disguised as a Brahmin and asked him how many days he would take up to complete the war alone.Barbarika said he would take only one minute.

Testing Barbarika's arrow

Krishna wanted to test the arrows.He asked Barbarika to tie all the leaves of the peepal tree under which he is standing,with those arrows.Barbarika went on meditating to release the arrows by closing his eyes.Using this moment krishna plucked one leaf and hid it under his foot.The first arrow was released,it started marking all the leaves and started revolving around krishna's leg.When krishna asked about it barbarika said there must be leaf under your foot.He advised krishna to lift his feet otherwise it would pierce the foot to mark the leaf.Krishna lifted his leg and was surprised to see that the first arrow marked that leaf also.Barbarika released his third arrow which collects all the leaves including the one which was under krishna's foot and ties them together.

Krishna learnt that these arrows are infallible and effective.He concluded as in the real battlefield even if he hides someone from Barbarika,these arrows would eventually trace and destory them. 

Consequences of a given word by Barbarika

Krishna asked whom barbarika will support in Mahabharata war,since pandavas have less army compared to kauravas,he considers pandavas as weak and said he will support Pandavas.Krishna questioned if he had given a thought about the consequences before giving such a word to his mom.Barbarika said his support to the weaker side will make them victorious.

Krishna revealed the real consequence of his promise to mom.Once he joins the weaker side the other side will become the weaker one due to his power.Then he will support the current weaker side.Nobody would be able to beat him and he keeps oscillating between two sides and destroys each  side until only he remains.

Barbarika's charity

The guised krishna wants to avoid this situation by seeking his head as charity.Barbarika shocked and asked him who he really is.Krishna revealed his form and told him that,before the beginning of war, bravest warrior's head needs to sacrificed to sanctify the battlefield.This way krishna can avoid his participation in the war.

In Compliance with krishna,barbarika gave his head as a charity.Before decapitating himself,barbarika expressed his desire to view the impending battle and requested krishna to facilitate the same.Krishna readily agreed and placed the head on top of a hill overlooking the battlefield.From the hill barbarika's head watched the entire battle.

Real hero of Mahabharata

When the war is over,pandavas were arguing among themselves about who was responsible for their victory.Krishna suggested that Barbarika's head should be allowed to judge as it had watched the whole battle.Barbarika's head said,"All i could see were two things: one is divine chakra and other is Goddess Mahakali.Mahakali was consuming the sinners who were killed by the spinning chakra which was killing all the people who were on the other side of dharma.

On hearing this,Pandavas realised that they are mere instruments to establish dharma in the world agin.

Get Set Go Andaman

Itinerary:

There are direct flights to Port Blair only from Chennai,Kolkatta and Delhi.We started from Kempegowda International Airport,Bangalore at around 7.30 AM and reached around 8.45 AM at Kamaraj International Airport,Chennai.Then we boarded in Spice jet Boeing flight around 12 PM from chennai and reached Port Blair around 1.45 PM.It takes approximately 90 minutes from the take off time to landing at Veersavarkar International Airport,Port Blair.

Andaman & Nicobar islands are close to Indonesia,Thailand than to Indian main land.It's situated in Bay of Bengal,South-East of Indian main land.

What Not-to-miss
Catch a glimpse of aerial view of Andaman Ialands while landing and take off.It's such a breathtaking lovely scene. Emerald green and blue color sea around the archipelago excites you to devour the whole island in one sight.

Glimpse of Andaman

Andaman island has some magic spell in it,once it casts upon us it takes quite some time to get over.The land is not flat so you can see houses constructed little over hill top from the land.Roads are tidy and wide.No traffic signals hence manual regulation by traffic police.I was taken back by not hearing any cuss words yelling by cab drivers.Quite contrary to Bangalore.We had a driver who was arranged by the travel agent,he had an ethics of not accepting the tips.Apparently native of Andamans has carefree attitude,living at this moment,time for everything.They are quite convinced over only one functioning ATM at some part of Island and not fretting over the things which are not easily available to them.But we tend to complain for not getting 4G,scheduled power cuts etc.Nicobar islands are inaccessible to tourists.This is mainly because people living in Nicobar islands are tribals.

Languages spoken:

In Port blair some people speak Tamil and saw a Kamaraj Statue on the way from Airport to Shompen Hotel,Port Blair.Few shops have Tamil names as well.Felt little proud on seeing this as am being a Tamilian.Port Blair is the capital and largest city in Andaman & Nicobar.Mainly people speak bengali and hindi.They do understand and speak English also.

Do you Know?
Islands in Andaman & Nicobar are named after British Generals.There is one Active volcano in India which is in Barren Island,Andaman.

Day 1:

Corbyn's Cove beach

We began with Corbyn's cove as we started around early evening and it was good time to get a glimpse of Sea.We embarked in Jet Sking as soon as our feet touched beach sands.Safety measures like wearing jackets in any of the water sports are followed strictly and guide accompany us all the time.Supervisors of guides also monitors for any faulty jackets imposed on tourist.They are quite scared for media as small bad incidents might affect their business.Though my jacket was not buckled  from the beginning i was composed through out the 10 minute journey of skimming through waters.

Those moments where water splashes on you and the taste of salt water makes you to let your hair down for few days.Those adrenaline rushes keeps you going for any adventure activities.

I sat front by keeping hands near to accelerator and clutched the front part.From the pillion guide rode one way from the shore till few metres away from Snakes island and allowed me to ride back to shore.Riding on sea waters is very tough as waves change incessantly and you keep jumping up and down as if you are dancing to waves with only one move.

Walking barefoot on beach sands piqued in and continued walking with slippers in hand.Lot of things happening around me,sun is setting at one end,lot of photo sessions going on,beach was thronged with honeymoon couples and family group.Children were too excited to get drenched fully in shallow  water in the shore.

Climb up the stairs of the compound wall around the beach and you can see lot of stalls for refreshments,decorative pieces made of shells,conch shells,tender coconut vendors,chaat items etc.There are benches on sides where you can lay down and enjoy doing nothing by paying Rs.10 per hour.

That's it for day 1 of Andaman trip.

Havelock Island

It's the most visited of the Andaman islands and is popular for its beaches and offers good scuba diving.

We set sail for Havelock island from port blair through Makruzz ferry at 8 AM.The ferry cost is bit high end compared to state run ferries but infrastructure is worth it.We got front row seats in the lower deck which gives more panoramic view around the sea.Obviously the view attracts photo maniac people and you get to see the madness around you.The Crowd was entertaining by itself.Lot of old couples in a group were very excited by taking videos of the whole journey,delved deeply in the mesmerizing videos of havelock island shown in Tv. Finally it reached Havelock around 9.30 AM .Beaches are named in numbers here.The arrival port is beach #1.

The resort was near by beach so after refreshment we took a stroll in the private beach.Had quite a time in hand as we planned to go Radhanagar beach by 3 PM.There were hammocks to take a nap,bamboo swings and the stretch of beach with lagoons.The scene begun to set in ourselves, the sun was scorching to get into water.Yet few people with kids were playing joyfully in little distant from shore.I was gazing around by sitting in swings and benches.A kid was building castle with the help of his sister,family was taking lunch in beach side,massage area with no customers on the other end.

Radha Nagar Beach

The Radha Nagar beach of Andamans was chosen as Asia’s best Beach in 2004.The beach is famous for sun set point.One can see the madness of honeymoon couples in this beach as well.There are small huts and paddock tree benches far away from the shore where you can relax.Foreigners were taking sun bath in the shore.Beach sands are pristine white and water is turquoise green.The beaches were very clean and its maintained very well.It's sin if you do not get drenched in the sea water.When beach calls you better answer it.Waves were getting higher and higher towards evening.No one is allowed inside water after 5 PM.There is a changing room and toilets if you want to use it.

Tender coconut stalls,chaat items,many eateries,souvenir shops are available on the road side for refreshments.

Andaman gets darker very early and day begins early as well.Sunset was as beautiful as in any other place but the difference is we have time here to witness.

There is only one ATM in the Havelock island and it runs out of cash super fast.Cash loads in only at scheduled time so park cash with you in port blair itself.

We went back to Resort by 6 PM.Got freshen up and took a stroll around the resort till dinner time.Bunches of stars were spreaded across the sky and its good place for star gazing.I could find little Dipper in the sky.Day 2 was wrapped up in complimentary dinner at the resort.Then we played cards at room before dozing off.
